I am finally getting around to uploading a post about 4th of July 2021. It’s been almost a week but late is better than never. This year I had a bit of a laid back holiday. We went for a hike at Rancho Palos Verdes and got poke on Saturday. Sunday (4th of July) we went to the beach in the morning and came home and had an early dinner (turkey burgers). Then in the evening we went for another hike at one of our favorite spots. It’s up high so we were trying to see the fireworks over the city and skyline. We did see quite a few but there was so much smoke and smog that it made them a bit difficult to see. Then we just went back home and watched fireworks in the neighborhood.
On Monday I wanted to do something a little bit out of the ordinary. We went to a garden called Sherman Library and Gardens, in Newport. I am obsessed with gardens so I’d love to see all of them in the surrounding area. This one is pretty small because it’s downtown right off of PCH. It has a $5 entrance fee, which was totally worth it. This garden is small but very interactive. There are little art installations and photo opportunities set up all over. Lots of fun little areas where you can sit and take a picture. You can see some of them in my photos. The garden is divided up, like most gardens, into sections for different type of plants. The photos aren’t the best quality because I used my phone. I felt awkward with a DSLR but now I wish I had just used it.
In celebration of the 4th I wore this cute top. It has little stars all over. I found it at Primark in Chicago when I visited family a few weeks ago. They just got a Primark and I had been wanting to go back since I went to London in 2017. I paired it with some basic jean short and my gold star sandals by Loeffler Randall. If you can’t tell, the straps have leather stars on them. Perfect for the holiday!
