I’ve seen Seven Magic Mountains in photos on Pinterest and Instagram for several years now, and have been wanting to check it out.  It wasn’t until recently that I actually looked up the location.  It’s located just outside of Las Vegas, right off the highway.  It’s a super convenient stop if you are driving between Los Angles and Las Vegas.  If you aren’t familiar with Seven Magic Mountains, it’s an art installation in the desert.  They are seven towers of colorful rocks stacked up.  You can take photos in front of them or just look at them. There is no entrance fee and dogs are allowed.

The day that my family went was probably not the best time to go but we made the most of it.  It was during Labor Day Weekend.  There were a ton of people there.  I’m not sure how many people are normally there but I’m sure there would be much less if you were able to go on a week day.  Aside from the crowds and the pandemic, there was also a lot of smoke in the sky from the fires in the West.  I was able to edit the photos so it doesn’t look quite so brown, luckily.  Because of all of the people I had to be creative with my angles.  I’m really happy with the end result.  I did have to edit out a few people in the photo with the plant though.  I took photos looking upwards because it was a lot easier to avoid having people in the background.  It’s a good idea to do some research on Instagram before you go and have an idea of what you want your photos to look like.  I’d love to go back someday and try some different angles.  If you are like me and love colorful photo spots, you should check it out.
