Tulip Time in Holland

I’ve always wanted to go to the Tulip Time Festival in Holland, Michigan.  I finally went with my boyfriend and sister, a few weeks ago.  I have been to Holland before but liked it much better the second time because there was more to do.  For those of you who have never heard of Holland, MI, it’s just a little lakefront town that has a lot of Dutch culture.  It’s very similar to other towns in Michigan that have that nautical, Lake Michigan feel, but it also has a lot of Dutch things.  The giant windmill is probably the focus of the town.  There are people in costumes who do traditional dances.  They have a festival every year for the time when tulips bloom.  There is a parade, craft boots, lots of food, and some other activities.  I found a shop that sells coo coo clocks, which is really exciting.  I have always wanted one.  Although I didn’t get one this time, I will for sure when I have my own place to decorate.  I just love how detailed and interesting they are.  I did buy an ornament for my future Christmas tree though.  I collect Christmas ornaments from the places I go so that when I get enough I have have a travel themed tree.  The Tulip Festival is just one of those things that I had to do once.
